Sergeant Nyaradzo Hoto

Nyaradzo Hoto is the commander and chief of the world's only female-led anti-poaching squad. Operating out of Akashinga in Northern Zimbabwe, this vegan team of women is the centerpiece of Terminator director James Cameron's latest film Akashinga: The Brave Ones.

Hoto's own story is one built on trauma and perseverance. A slave to her husband, Nyaradzo, has luckily escaped her past and found peace. Using her trauma, she looks to dedicate her life to protecting those who cannot defend themselves, the growing list of endangered animals.

Leading an elite squad of like-minded women, they are The Avengers of the anti-poaching world, committed to protecting some of the world's most vulnerable creatures. Nyaradzo hopes her actions serve as inspiration to women in the local community, her daughter Tariro and draw more women to her cause.

When she is not out on patrol, Nyaradzo can be found studying. A pupil at the Chinhoyi University of Technology, Nyaraszo, is looking to obtain her Bachelors Honors Science Degree in Wildlife, Ecology, and Conservation. She hopes to gain a better understanding and appreciation of conservation management.
